Getting Involved

In a similar spirit as the world renowned Mardi Gras Festival, we are calling on artists, organizations, businesses, and diverse cultural groups to help us nurture the creative life giving energy that wild salmon have inspired through the ages. You can self organize arts build workshops to create parade floats, regalia, costumes, banners, life sized puppets etc for our parades that will take place in Vancouver, Lillooet, Merritt, and Chase in the week of September 22nd to 29th, 2018

You can create art in whatever medium you choose, following the themes that relate wild salmon to water people (mermaids), matriarchs, water, regeneration, healing, transformation and change, sustainable energy, and Indigenous food systems. Wild salmon need us now more than ever to come out in colourful and creative cultural expressions of our love for them. Prizes offered for the floats in 2 categories. $100 for the best float created by youth, plus a gift basket for the best float created by a business, organization, or cultural group.

Your collaboration and creative energy will serve to educate, inform, and transform the darkness surrounding the industrial storm that is endangering wild salmon, our most important Indigenous food and cultural and ecological keystone species.
