We got some great video from many sources last year and Chris Gadsden was a great asset to the team covering so much of the caravan. Here’s some video from his Lettermail YouTube channel.
We are BACK for 2017 and have a lot of work to do.
Here’s some calls to action!
The Working Group on Indigenous Food Sovereignty and community planning teams for the Wild Salmon Caravan are calling on food system networks, artists, health hubs, and environmental groups to self organize on the following items:
We will be looking for community planning teams in the following centres:
Vancouver, Chilliwack, Merritt, Kamloops or Chase. Stay tuned for volunteer information and regional planning team gathering.
Stay tuned on our Calls To Action page for more details coming up!

Well that sure is a mouthful isn’t it?
For those that don’t know the acronyms, the Wild Salmon Caravan was honoured to present at the BC Food Systems Network Gathering 2017 held at UBC Farms on unceded Musqueam Territory.
The gathering kicked off with a traditional welcoming by Jeri Sparrow and consisted of three days of conversations around the food systems in British Columbia.
Wild Salmon Caravan delivered a presentation entitled “Mobilizing Support For Indigenous Sovereignty Through The Wild Salmon Caravan” along side an arts build. Many great connections were made as well as an ideation session with 9 members of different food systems organizations from around B.C.
Below are some photos of the process and final product.
We started with a conversation around ‘what wild salmon means to us’. Ronnie kept notes of key concepts, values and understandings in a word cloud.
This data was then transferred from paper to software and created into a graphic declaration and promotional material for Wild Salmon Caravan.
Thanks to the BC Food Systems Network for having us out and thanks for your work.
